Overview
Juancho was a soldier of Nieves and a veteran of the War of Golds. He fought against the combined forces of Amazon and the Baruk during the conflict that later led to the Treaty of the Valley.
Despite being a soldier of Nieves, Juancho fell in love with Hisa, a Baruk woman and the sister of Hesi. Their love became one of the rare peaceful bonds between peoples divided by war.
War of Golds
During the War of Golds, Juancho fought with King Pancho II de Aragon and his son, the young Tereprencio. He was part of the Nievesian forces involved in Operation Disco Thunder, where the Northern Legion of Nieves joined with the Arcosian Southern Legion in Lambak.
The operation became part of the larger war that devastated Lambak and reshaped the political order of Erodas.
Love for Hisa
Before the war fully defined the borders and hatred of Erodas, Juancho had already fallen in love with Hisa, the younger sister of Hesi.
After the war ended, Juancho returned to Hisa and asked to begin a new life with her. He promised her family that he would become a responsible husband and protect her from danger.
Although Hesi did not want Hisa to leave Barakos, he accepted the relationship because he loved his sister and did not want her life to be trapped in the desert.
Marriage and Cecilia
Juancho and Hisa were married with the blessing of the Nievesian royal court. As part of her acceptance into Nievesian life, Hisa was given the Nievesian name Cecilia.
Their marriage represented a fragile hope: that a Nievesian soldier and a Baruk woman could build peace beyond the hatred of the war.
Life in Lambak
Juancho and Cecilia chose to live quietly in Lambak, which they considered their sanctuary. Lambak allowed them to raise a family away from the politics of Nieves, the exile of Barakos, and the military ambitions of the greater kingdoms.
Their eldest son, Logan, was often sent to Barakos to learn the culture and honor code of the Baruk. This allowed Logan to remain connected to his mother's people while growing up tied to Lambak.
Helping the Infant Bianca
In 88 AR, two Amazonian women arrived at Juancho and Cecilia's home in Lambak carrying an infant. The child was Bianca, secretly rescued from Arcos by Doktora Talia and Madre Debra.
Juancho offered the women water. Cecilia, who had recently given birth, nursed the baby.
Juancho also wrapped the infant in newly woven Lambak cotton cloth because the Amazonian spider silk she wore was uncomfortable for the child.
Without knowing it, Juancho and Cecilia helped protect the legitimate daughter of King Starkus and Queen Maius.
Death
After the Amazonian women left, Arcosian Green Vipers attacked Juancho and Cecilia's home.
Juancho fought with all his strength, using the skill and courage he had gained as a soldier of Nieves. However, he was overwhelmed by the number of attackers.
Juancho was killed alongside Cecilia and their newborn child.
Their eldest son, Logan, survived only because he was in Barakos at the time of the massacre.
Unknown Grave
Juancho, Cecilia, and their newborn baby were later buried in an unknown grave in Lambak by Doktora Talia and Madre Debra.
For years, Bianca honored the grave without knowing that the people buried there had protected her as an infant. Logan also did not know that the grave belonged to his own family.
The truth of the grave later becomes one of the most painful revelations in the story.
Legacy
Juancho's legacy lives through Logan and through the survival of Bianca.
He represents the ordinary soldier who wanted peace after war. Though he once fought in the War of Golds, his final act was not conquest but compassion: giving water, offering shelter, and protecting a helpless child.
His death shows how the violence of kings reaches even the quiet homes of freemen.
Personality and Abilities
Juancho is brave, responsible, loving, and honorable. He is a soldier, but he is not defined only by war.
His abilities include military combat, discipline, courage under attack, fatherhood, and the desire to protect his family.
Canon Status
