Overview
Pinunong Hesi is the leader of the Baruk, maternal uncle of Jack, and keeper of a wounded warrior people who reclaim their dignity at the Battle of Erodas.
Leader of the Baruk
Hesi leads a western people shaped by exile, mercenary survival, and political manipulation. He carries both the rage and honor of the Baruk, who are repeatedly hired as weapons and then condemned as monsters.
Family and Jack
Hesi is the brother of Cecilia, also known as Hisa. He protects her son Jack in Barakos, sparing him from the massacre that kills Cecilia, Juancho, and their newborn child after they shelter Bianca.
The Albino Assassination Order
A green-caped woman hires the Baruk to assassinate Captain Albino. Hesi orders Jack to perform the killing; Jack refuses and is punished, creating the rift that makes him the Lone Baruk.
The later revelation that Carrius manipulated the mission exposes how greater kingdoms exploited the Baruk and reinforced their feared reputation.
Truth and Alliance
Before the Battle of Erodas, Hesi confronts Jack for abandoning the tribe. Madre Debra, Doktora Talia, Princess Camila, Roma, and the Amazonas reveal that Jack's parents died protecting Bianca from Starkus' forces.
Camila offers recognition and justice rather than another transaction. Hesi leads the Baruk into the alliance, transforming feared outsiders into essential defenders of Erodas.
Carrius and the Cycle of Revenge
Hesi recognizes Carrius as the green-caped woman but spares her after sensing her pregnancy. The decision interrupts vengeance and proves that Baruk justice can protect life even when old wounds demand blood.
Post-War Legacy
After the war, the Baruk begin building a recognized future near the Bay of Barda. Hesi reminds Jack that no title or home can erase his Baruk identity, restoring the belonging he once withheld.
