Overview
Markulah is the Red Witch of Evloz, a seductive and poisonous antagonist who turns rejection into magical revenge and tries to force herself into the prophecy.
The Red Witch
Markulah comes from Evloz with knowledge of potions, curses, transformations, magical contracts, and body manipulation. Her red magic represents desire, envy, blood, and corrupted passion.
Obsession with Starkus
Markulah wants Starkus as lover, king, and prophetic counterpart. Her jealousy of Queen Maius turns rejection into revenge, while she encourages Starkus' false belief that he is the Great Warrior and imagines herself as the chosen flower.
Queen Maius and Mylenah
After Bianca's birth, Markulah takes Queen Maius and uses the Blue Bayou Formula to transform her into Mylenah. The act violates the queen's body, identity, and motherhood, but Mylenah's sacred power survives beyond Markulah's control.
Curses and Manipulation
Markulah curses Prince Marius so that his body ages while his mind remains emotionally young. She also helps corrupt Arcos and humiliates Pabs and Roma through a showbiz spell, repeatedly using magic to reduce powerful people into controllable spectacle.
Defeat and Judgment
During the Battle of Erodas, Markulah's interpretation of the prophecy collapses when Bianca's love for Jack stops time. Madre Debra, Doktora Talia, and Pabs help defeat her.
Under the Dissolution of the Treaty, Markulah is sent back to Evloz to be judged according to the authority of the Witches' Council and the laws of Evloz. Her crimes are treated not only as political betrayal, but as magical and treasonous acts requiring Evlozian judgment.
Personality and Abilities
Markulah is intelligent, theatrical, vain, ambitious, and cruelly funny. Her considerable powers include potion-making, transformation, battlefield magic, preservation, psychological manipulation, and curses. Her tragedy is that she understands the language of prophecy but not its meaning.
